RULES AND REGULATIONS:
SYSTEM:
- Sri Parasakthi College for Women, Courtallam follows the semester system under CBCS for U.G, P.G and M.Phil courses.
WORKING DAYS:
- A semester shall consist of 90 working days excluding examination days. There shall be 30 contact hours per week.
- First year P.G. courses shall have 75 working days of 6 hours a day in the first semester.
- The time table shall provide 36 clock hours per week.
- For U.G. the additional six hours shall be allotted to Physical Education / NSS / NCC, Tutorials, Seminars, Library work, Students Counselling, Assignments, Cultural Programme and General meetings.
- For P.G. and M.Phil., the additional six hours shall be used for Library, Assignment, Seminar, Project, Viva voce and Guest lectures.
ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION
- UNDER GRADUATE COURSES: Candidates who have passed Higher Secondary Examination or equivalent are eligible to join Under Graduate courses.
- POST GRADUATE COURSES: Candidates who have passed the University degree course in the affiliated colleges of Manonmaniam Sundaranar University or any other recognized University and with the marks prescribed by the parent University are eligible to join P.G. courses. Policy of admission shall be as per the rules of Government of Tamil Nadu.

Extra credit paper – Self study (Not compulsory & only optional for both UG & PG):
- A candidate is permitted to take up an extra credit paper in each semester from any department. However, for all PG courses the extra credit paper – Communicative English is compulsory in third semester with two contact hours per week. The credit for each extra credit paper is two.
M.Phil COURSE:- TAMIL
The curriculum consists of four components.
- Methodology
- Indian comparative literature
- Two dissertations of which one relevant to society and the other connected with the subject (Both Dissertations involve field work, collection of data, library work and seminar)
- Special paper connected with dissertation.
- Medium of instruction shall be English for U.G. However two papers in every discipline shall be taught and examined through Tamil Medium except for language majors and B.Sc., Mathematics. The choice of the papers is left to the Departments.Students who have not learnt Tamil language at school level shall be exempted from rule.
- They shall be permitted to study all papers in English.
