                          The Department was established in 1965. The department offers innovative papers as Health Economics, Cultural Economics etc. Dr. S. Kayarkanni is an approved guide of Manonmaniam Sundaranar University. She has been offering free Consultancy in Consumer Rights to NGOs. The department under look a survey on Eco-Concern in Courtallam and the findings are published as a book.
